1747 Colonial Festival

On On Saturday, September 20th, the First Congregational Church held its 2nd annual “1747 Colonial Festival” followed by a traditional colonial dinner. From 2pm-6pm there were historical displays by Art Shadverdian, church historian, children’s colonial era games, colonial era school room, a blacksmith, a quilting demonstration, a tinsmith, a stone carver and a wool spinner.  There were also refreshments at our New Cambridge Tavern! The community was invited to join in celebrating our past as we recall the year 1747 when the First Congregational Church was first established as a church in Bristol and has since been a thriving, majestic part of our historic Federal Hill.
At 6pm, there was a traditional Colonial dinner featuring corn chowder, turkey with gravy, cranberry sauce, green beans, mashed potatoes, baked beans, corn bread and a selection of desserts.
