Below are some opportunities. For more information, please contact the church office by calling 860-589-4700 or by email.

The First Fruits Garden is a garden ministry of the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ. Every year, volunteers plant, nurture, water, and grow fresh vegetables that are donated to our local soup kitchens and food pantries. Financial, time, and talent gifts are always much appreciated.
Throughout the year, members of the FCC Bristol community make Saturday night meals for the clients of the St. Vincent DePaul Homeless shelter. This is a wonderful ministry and fellowship opportunity. Please see the Event page or a member of the Outreach and Service committee for upcoming events and information.
On the fourth Monday of January, March, May, July, September, and November, FCC provides volunteers to host dinner at Zion Lutheran’s Meals for our Neighbors. Please see the Event page or a member of the Outreach and Service committee for more information.
Throughout the school year, FCC volunteers provide fresh fruits and vegetables for children who participate in the Family Resource Center Backpack program. This ministry provides nutritious food for children who might otherwise go hungry on the weekends. Volunteers are always needed to shop and deliver the fresh produce.
Volunteers who have been a part of The First Congregational Church UCC community for more than six months and who have been background checked are invited to use their gifts to support the Children’s Ministry of our church. Opportunities include serving as Faith Guides (Sunday Morning Children’s Ministry leaders), and coordinating and helping with Children’s Ministry events throughout the year: Advent Workshop, Easter Egg Hunt, and Fall Fun Sunday Picnic.
As a church that believes God speaks to us in the gathered community, FCC has standing committees that guide the ministry of our church. Members and non-members, alike, are invited to serve on these standing committees, welcoming, nurturing, and transforming the world with Christ’s love.
FCC’s standing committees are:
Those called to nurture the Christian faith lives of our children, youth, and adults.
Those called to assist the pastor in the worship life of FCC as well as care for the community and welcome guests and visitors.
Those called to nurture community and connections, doing so with coffee, tea, and good food!
Those called to nurture the music ministry of FCC, including the adult choir, junior choir, and handbell choir.
Those called to nurture the talents of the FCC community, helping all find ways to serve in Christ’s love.
Those called to inspire us in financial and hands on ways to transform the world with Christ’s love.
Those called to be good stewards of our finances, personnel, and property.
Those called to nurture our Christian community to be more generous and to be give of our abundance in support of Christ’s ministry.
Those called to be good stewards of the financial investments countless saints have given to the ministry of FCC.
For over 60 years, members of The First Congregational Church UCC have nurtured this wonderful preschool ministry for the children of Bristol. Even as the school provides outstanding non-religious preschool education, it is a ministry of love for FCC. Faithful members of FCC serve as its Board of Directors, continuing this tradition of excellence. Learn more about Century Nursery School here.
