The gospel of Matthew tells us that on the same day as Jesus’ resurrection, two disciples were traveling to Emmaus and talking about what they had heard. While they were discussing all of this surprising news, Jesus joined them on the journey, “but their eyes were kept from recognizing him” (Matthew 24:16). When they arrived at their journey’s end, the disciples invited Jesus to eat with them, and when Jesus broke the bread and offered it to them, their eyes were open to his presence.
As we walk the road from Easter to Pentecost, may our eyes be opened to see Jesus in our lives, Jesus in our world. As we walk this journey, may we grow in our Christian faith journeys and grow as Christ’s disciples.
